Tag Book

Yay!  It's Monday!  That means that there's a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog.  This week the challenge is to "make the cut". Use your die cutting system and/or punches to create a project.  This week I used my Avery Elle "Simply Tags" die to create a vintage inspired mini book.
I love to use vintage ephemera in my projects whenever possible, so when I found a damaged old children's reader, I knew that I could repurpose some of the pages. And that's what I did!
I cut the pages using the tag die.  This worked beautifully!  I was able to cut sections that had images on both sides.  I collaged the pages with papers and stenciling.  (This also help cover some of the crayon marks and imperfections on the original page.)
When I was pleased with the tags, I arranged them accordion style on a double sided paper that I scored.  And bound them with a cover.  A simple piece of twine was all that was needed for the books closure.
I love that sweet Jenni Bowlin flair!

Can you "Make the Cut"?  Link your project to The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog and you could win a $50.00 voucher to the Simon Says Stamp store!
You could also be featured in our Designer spotlight for the whole world to see, AND receive a fun badge for your blog too!

  10. Awesome way to use something that could be destined for the trash bin! (though I ...like you ...just can't see letting a beautiful little piece of art in itself go to waste like that!) Now it becomes a new piece!! TFS

  20. You know how in those old Batman movies they'd say things like, "Holy skyscraper, Batman!" or "Holy Rocket Launcher, Batman!" to show just how stunned they were at something? Well I am shouting you a "Holy favorite project ever, Batman!!" I absolutely ADORE everything about this piece! I am such a diehard fan of illustrated books from this era and the way you made your tag book just blows me away. I want to make the pictures of this into a poster-sized collage and hang it in every room of my house! This one just really struck a chord with me and I truly thank you for sharing it.

And on an unrelated side note, your comment on my blog about your situation with the magazine-folding mail lady has cracked me up for two days straight. Too funny! Love your art and your stories!
