J is for Junk...

This week we are showcasing the letter "J" for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. My husband and I  moved recently and the word, "Junk" seemed appropriate. (ahem...) So I created a banner to proudly proclaim my treasures!

The pennants were premade chipboard from Jenni Bowlin. (Jenni...another "J" word!) I was really pleased with the way the background evolved. After dabbing some distress ink and stamping with metallic distress ink, I used a whitewash of Picket Fence stain and an unexpected resist occurred from the metallic.
I've proudly labeled my junk!

What comes to your mind when you think of the letter, "J"? Jewel-tones? Journals? Juxtaposed images? Join us this week at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog and your project could win a $50 gift voucher to Simon Says Stamp.  We draw a new winner each week. Your project could also be chosen to be featured in our weekly designer spotlight.

midsummer's dream

Mid-Summer is a time of scorching temperatures, time spent by the water drinking lemonade from a Mason jar and family vacations. Are you longing to play with a Farmer’s Market inspired paper line? Planning on stamping into a starry night frenzy? Or are you inspired by Shakespeare? We challenge you to create and share your "Mid-Summer" project with us!
My project was inspired by a romantic old photo I discovered at an antique store. Sadly, there were no names on the back of the photo. It only says, "Hamburg 1927". The people remind me of lovers from a classic Shakespearean play, so I wanted them to be the focus of the project. A simple chipboard frame helped to emphasize them. There are no technique photos this week because this project was created easily. Sometimes simple stamping is the best way to go. Here, I used basic black ink to keep a clean color palette. The flowers were created by embossing on tinted vellum.

Art With Heart; Red, White and Beautiful!

At Eileen Hull's Art With Heart, our theme this month is “Red, White and Beautiful!”! Are you feeling patriotic? Or do you have another “Red, White and Beautiful!” idea?

However you interpret this theme we want YOU to share your Art with Heart
For my project, I used Eileen Hull's Box, Candy Drawer Die.

Don't let the name, "Candy Drawer" fool you....it can hold so much more than candy! I used mine to create a fun place to hold some of my vintage postal ephemera. I love old papers and I love mixing them with newer items too!

Join in the fun!

You could win a fun Sizzix Prize pack filled with fun things from Eileen Hull's Crafitti Direct Stamps and other fun goodies! Check out the Art With Heart Challenge blog for more Red, White and Beautiful ideas and don't forget to link your creations there too.

Face it

I miss their face.
My family is spread out all over the country and I miss being able to give them a hug or a kiss. This week the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge theme is "Faces". I would love to kiss their face, but today a card will have to do.
I created a card with a smiling, friendly face that reminds me of my Grandmother. The image is actually a part of a larger stamp. You've seen me use this Paper Artsy face before. I love this stamp! It's one of my favorites. The clouds were cut with die on Neenah's Kraft paper and were created with mists and sprays and inks. And don't you adore that sentiment? It's so cute!
Kiss their face while you can. Today and everyday.
Show us your face! Join us this week at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog and your project could win a $50 gift voucher to Simon Says Stamp.  We draw a new winner each week. Your project could also be chosen to be featured in our weekly designer spotlight.
