The Finishing Touch

As we wrap up the month-long, Simon Says Stamp’s STAMPtember® event at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog, we are adding the finishing touches to our projects.
This is one of my personal favorite projects. As a little girl growing up in the mid-west, I recall the leaves falling from the trees and admiring the unique differences in each one. While most of the Oaks and Elms were bright yellows and reds, many of them had began to decay and were uniquely mottled, yet still lovely. I remember making my own paper leaves. And I'm still doing that today. :)
This leaf was created from tag paper and colored using many thin layers of distress paint. I love the colors.
Almost all of the papers on this page are authentic vintage and antique papers. The word, "FALL" was stamped on vintage postage stamps. The perfect finishing touch!

Simon Says Stamp was founded in 2002 with an interest in exclusively selling rubber stamps. It didn’t take long until we realized we couldn’t stop there. For more than 10 years we have celebrated rubber stamping and its glory. We work to bring companies from around the world together in a one stop shopping environment. Rubber stamps still remain the heart of our business and we are celebrating by hosting a “STAMPtember®" event intended to inspire, educate, and celebrate the delight of rubber stamping. Part of the enticement of rubber stamping is that stamps can be used in creating or complementing ANYTHING! From stamping dates on bank documents and postage parcels in the early 18th century, rubber stamping has dramatically expanded to include card making, scrapbooking, mixed media and many forms of altering and expressing art.

Don't forget to show us what you're done for your finishing touch!

Stamp and Stencil Fun

I feel like I am the luckiest woman in the world.
I have a wonderful husband, a family that I adore, and a lovely collection of stamps and stencils that allow me to create almost anything. It's been a rough week. Thank goodness for stamping therapy!
I created a scrapbook page this week that features Autumn leaves. I am really enjoying creating leaves this year. These leaves were cut with my Sizzix, colored with distress inks, and embellished with golden shattered circles. The circles were so easy to make with embossing paste and a stencil. I love that golden glow.

I also love my new Waffle Flower alphabet stamps. They have more than one of most letters so that I was able to spell out "Adventure" in its entirety before stamping. I was pretty excited about that. Something only a stamper would understand. ;)

Yeats

I had a little meltdown at work the other day. And what's the best coping method for stress? Why, stamping of course! So, that's what I did!
I used the Studio Calico Yeats Project Life kit. I purchased it because I fell in love with that sweet stamp. I embossed the image in white and watercolored it.
I broke open a brand-new set of watercolors which I hadn't had time to use until now. I LOVE them!! They are so fun!! They're soft and only require a touch of water to get bright, vivid color. My only regret is that I didn't order the larger set.

I feel much better now. ;)

Rock on!

Stamping is fun for ALL ages!
As part of the Simon Says Stamp’s STAMPtember® event, the team is rockin' the techniques this week. This week, I did some basic masking and stamping that can be done by stampers of all levels. Hopefully, this post will encourage new stampers to get out those stamps! But more importantly, I'd like for more experienced stampers to sit down and create more than tags...create memories by stamping with a little family member Yes, this is truly a project that the whole family can do.
My oldest son is getting married in a few short weeks and I'm thrilled for him and his bride to-be. I am so proud of the man that he has become, and I'm certain that he will be a good husband. Where did the time go? When I look back on his childhood, my favorite moments were times spent together working on fun little projects. I love being his Mother and I treasure those memories. I urge you all to take any opportunity you can to create your own special memories. With tiny helping hands, these tags could be put together quickly and attached to bake goods for quick gifts or school bake sales. After all, the eating season is fast approaching! :)
When I first began stamping, I was awed by the masking process. It made everything look so polished and professional. Do you know what? Your non-stamping friends and family will be amazed too! Get those little ones to help!
Here, I stamped on a sticky note to create my removable mask. An adult may have to cut the mask, but little fingers could stamp the background with a larger stamp. I used a strip of washi tape as a mask to create a blank space to insert the name of the chef. You may notice that I purposely kept it simple and clean. I have found that distressed edges and grunge do not make your home-baked treats very appealing to eat. :)

STAMPtember blog hop!

It's Simon Says Stamp’s STAMPtember® event time again!
For this week, we challenge you to use a Simon Says Stamp exclusive stamp – or any Simon brand product to help us celebrate!
I like this newly released stamp set because I really NEEDED some Thanksgiving stamps, and this set has a variety of images. Some of the images seemed a tad "cutesy" for what I wanted on this card, so I altered the images with my favorite glitter to give it a different look.

This technique is about as easy as it gets, yet as stampers we STILL often forget that we can change the way an image appears. Make it yours!

For your inspiration, we are each sharing a special trick or technique on our blogs, so be sure to hop around and check them all out!
