The inspiration for this box was from the Tim Holtz die cut strip that you see at the base of the box. I've always thought there there was a Moroccan influence there that I wanted to further explore.
The mosaic tiles were made by embossing a foil sheet and adding metallic distress paint. The foil sheet was cut into strips and then the strips were cut into many squares. I adhered the tiles with Wendy Vecchi Gold Embossing Paste.
Not only did the paste secure the tiles in place, it also gave the box a wonderfully warm glow.

ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant, Michelle. Such an incredibly original idea and so effective! I love it! You made me smile about the Muppets. My husband called me a muppet the other day. I said, which one, and he said, Miss Piggy! He is still alive!

Michelle! How talented are you? That's obviously a rhetorical question because I think we know the answer is SUPER MEGA talented in every way. I loved this project because of its cool global vibe. I adore that technique you used to transform silver foil into the rich textured gold squares. You're the type of person I can picture living anywhere in the universe and drawing inspiration from all sorts of cultures and traditions. Beautiful work on this and incredibly "out of the box" (ha, ha). I also got a kick out of the reminder about how we all learned the letter M.
ReplyDeletethis is seriously beyond amazing!!! I just love everything about it!
