TBT: An Art Journal Retrospective

I was browsing through some of my older works from 2014 and this project really stood out to me.

I noticed some similarities as well as some major differences as my work has evolved. I still use rubber stamps, and love them dearly, although I don't use them in every project as I once did..  I still adore old photos. My love for vernacular photography will always be a constant. As a child, I recall begging relatives to look through the old photo albums. Those books were like time machines. Yes, old pictures will always be a part of my life. I also still love the color yellow. Some people abhor yellow, but I love its sunny playfulness.

There are also differences when I compare 2014 to 2017. I don't use as much brown as I once did. Instead, I try to opt for pinks and greens. I think my projects have become lighter and brighter. I also look to different era for inspiration. I still love vintage, but now my projects have a more retro feel. The 50's. 60's, and even the 70's beckon to me. I'm also drawn to contemporary geometric shapes and patterns. These weren't even on my radio three years ago, and now I can't get enough of them.

In 2014, this was one of my favorite projects. I can't say that today, but I love what it represents. Growth!
