Paper Iris

Today I would like to share my Paper Iris. I am dying for Spring to come. Since it's taking awhile to arrive, I'm making my own Springtime.

I have no idea why I waited so long to make this flower. It's been on my "to-make" list for ages. (Yes, I have an actual physical list. It's a long one, too!))

Making my Iris was a lot of fun. Each flower consists of six distinct petals. Each petal consists of 2 individual pieces of paper. Here you can see a closeup. You can see where the grain forms a "V". That's where the two pieces are glued together. The construction itself was fairly simple. In fact, if you're interested in making crepe paper flowers, this would be a good beginner flower to make. For these flowers I used a heavy crepe. I love the way the heavy crepe "grabs" the PanPastels for coloring and shading. You can find the Heavy Floristic Crepe that I used at Lia Griffith.

Now that I've made these, I'm eager to try an Iris in fine crepe too. Maybe a bearded Iris...Wouldn't yellow be pretty? Or maybe white? There's too many varieties to choose from!

Thank you for visiting my blog today. I have much more crafty fun coming soon, so hit that subscribe form on the sidebar!

Thanks again!
