The Finishing Touch

As we wrap up the month-long, Simon Says Stamp’s STAMPtember® event at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog, we are adding the finishing touches to our projects.
This is one of my personal favorite projects. As a little girl growing up in the mid-west, I recall the leaves falling from the trees and admiring the unique differences in each one. While most of the Oaks and Elms were bright yellows and reds, many of them had began to decay and were uniquely mottled, yet still lovely. I remember making my own paper leaves. And I'm still doing that today. :)
This leaf was created from tag paper and colored using many thin layers of distress paint. I love the colors.
Almost all of the papers on this page are authentic vintage and antique papers. The word, "FALL" was stamped on vintage postage stamps. The perfect finishing touch!

Simon Says Stamp was founded in 2002 with an interest in exclusively selling rubber stamps. It didn’t take long until we realized we couldn’t stop there. For more than 10 years we have celebrated rubber stamping and its glory. We work to bring companies from around the world together in a one stop shopping environment. Rubber stamps still remain the heart of our business and we are celebrating by hosting a “STAMPtember®" event intended to inspire, educate, and celebrate the delight of rubber stamping. Part of the enticement of rubber stamping is that stamps can be used in creating or complementing ANYTHING! From stamping dates on bank documents and postage parcels in the early 18th century, rubber stamping has dramatically expanded to include card making, scrapbooking, mixed media and many forms of altering and expressing art.

Don't forget to show us what you're done for your finishing touch!
Join us this week at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog and your project could win a $50 gift voucher to Simon Says Stamp.  We draw a new winner each week. Your project could also be chosen to be featured in our weekly designer spotlight.

  15. Gorgeous leaf! I totally thought it was real! You did an amazing job of making it as cool as (if not cooler) than nature itself. That takes some skill! I also appreciated how your music sheet tied into the September theme and I loved the way you stamped over postage stamps. You are always giving me such great ideas! Thanks for the never-failing inspiration!
