Sizzix Eileen Hull and Crescent Collaboration

This month Eileen Hull's Inspiration Team has teamed up with Crescent Artists to bring you fresh and fun projects for the entire month of June.

Recently my Father-In-Law passed away. This has been especially difficult for my adult kids. I found a photo of my In-Laws with my oldest son when he was in high school. They all looked so happy! I painted a Crescent Photo Mat Art Board to showcase the photo.

This is how I created the background.
1. Prepared the surface with yellow, white, and tan acrylic paints
2. Masked areas to create a diamonds and painted with acrylics
3. Coated the entire piece with DecoArt Media Antiquing cream... This can be scary, but when it is removed with a damp cloth, it leaves a wonderful patina. Just for fun, I then added stripes and roughed it up a bit with inks.
The flowers were created with The Heart and Soul Flower Die from Eileen Hull's new Flower Party line. I used the same antiquing process for some of the flower pieces.
When putting the flowers together, I combined colored tissue paper, antiqued flower cuts, as well as  pieces that were not antiqued. I like that you can cut many pieces at once, Whew! A real time saver! I then added a hint of yellow to some of the flower parts and assembled the flowers with metal brads.
Making these flowers has been so much fun. I seriously cannot get enough.
