Buttons and Book Pages; A Simon Says Stamp Challenge

Happy Monday!
This week, the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is to be inspired by the letter "B." The letter challenges happen to be my favorites, so I was excited about this one.. :)
Basic Grey, Brushes, Birthday, Blue, Burlap, Blossoms...the possibilities are endless. I created a Brown Gift Bag trimmed with Buttons.

I made this with a minimal amount of supplies. The background paper was originally a page from an old book, and I have a collection of vintage Mother of Pearl buttons that I used for the package trim.

The stamped sentiment is beautiful enough to become a focal image for this Gift Bag. Embossing makes the bold sentiment shine. Inside, the bag is a little gift to make someone's day brighter.

More 100 Proof Press Stamping Fun

I have been having a wonderful month this month as a guest designer for 100 Proof Press.  Their current newsletter came out today featuring additional recent projects that I have completed with their stamps.  I also wrote a tutorial for their blog on how to create some fun faux woodgrain embellishments, which will be featured later next week.

I adore feathers.  This stamp is called Favorite Feather. It has such unlimited potential.  The details are awesome. After I stamped it in red on kraft paper, I cut it out, added some gold Pan Pastel and distress ink accents and scored it for dimension. The wood grain accents were created with their wood grain stamp.

Love bees?  I do!  I adore this Bee Hive image. I stamped it on an antique book page prepared with gesso and distress inks, then cut in the shape of a house.  This lone bee has a lot of friends in the 100 Proof Press catalog, but I decided he needed some individual respect, so I perched him on some wire.

And how cute is this Sharp Owl stamped on patterned paper?  Easy-Peasy.

If you are not familiar with 100 Proof Press, you should check them out.  They carry thousands of images.  And they are all quality rubber.  I'm certain that I'll be using these images for a long time and I am so grateful to Sara from 100 Proof Press for allowing me to share.  It's been pure stamping bliss. :)

Isn't she a sweetie?  Her little hands are perfect for holding just about anything.  I've used her before for projects. I love her to bits! Stamping On!

This week, The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is to "Stamp On".  We know you can stamp on plain, white paper.  But what about patterned paper, wood, plastic, or fabric?  The challenge is to stamp on anything but plain paper.  For my project, I chose to stamp on fabric and I created my own fabric covered buttons.  These are so fun to make.  So fun, that I created several sets!

I dug through my old sewing stash and found some plain, cream-colored muslin. I used Distress Paint to cover the fabric. (Note: The paint will seep through the fabric so be sure to cover your work surface)  I stamped some fun, script text and then added my focal image stamped in StazOn ink.

The Button Challenge

The Simon Says Stamp and Show blog challenge is "The Button Challenge" this week.  Love it! I have noticed "buttons" have been a recurring theme in most of my projects. (BTW...Did you see the button flowers I made recently?) So I was pretty excited for the opportunity to see everyone else's button projects. :)

 

As you can see, I am still obsessed intrigued with the Avery Elle tag dies. And truthfully, I don't remember where I got those rubber stamps. They are probably about ten years old.

 

 

I purchased the old photos at an estate sale several years ago.  They are all small photos, probably captured with an old Brownie camera.  They aren't "good" photos, but to me they are treasures.  If you look close, you can see the old gas pumps in the background of the photo of the girl with her eyes closed.  How cool is that?

Button Posey Blossoms

It's my turn to post a project at The Rubber Café.  This week I created Button Posey Blossoms using their Grandma's Doilies stamp set and some vintage buttons.
